The Park was established in 1921 and since then some parts of the park have been strictly protected. As the entire area of the park was strictly protected until 1996, there were no conservation measures applied in the area. In 1996 it was enlarged and it now encompasses some tree stands changed by forest management in the past as well as some meadows in the river valleys which are overgrown with willow thickets. At present, the park is performing renaturalisation work on some meadows. The park maintains large ponds situated in the Palace Park, which belongs to the national park, and mows meadows in their vicinity. In the parks surroundings, but within the area of the Natura 2000 site, some conservation activities are carried out by the parks employees. Each spring, employees of the park carry out a project that aims at saving amphibians during their migration to breeding ponds.
