Žuvintas Biosphere Reserve


The reserve was established in 1937 in order to protect Žuvintas Lake and adjacent ecosystems. Current aims of the reserve are: to control changes in natural ecosystems, to perform nature conservation experiments in natural complexes and their surroundings.

Veisiejai Regional Park



The administration of the park prepares local management programs, and required policy instrument projects necessary for the realization of the established goals of the regional park. It organizes applied scientific research in the park territory, designed for landscape, biodiversity and cultural heritage conservation, and recreation; gathers information about nature, cultural values, natural resources conservation and other objects. It also organizes the set up of information boards, natural and cultural values expositions, nature survey paths, resorts and other recreational facilities.
